Goal Posts
The new standard En 1659. Conflicting national goal post standards were withdrawn in November 2013. New goal post standards are being created and they are expected to be revealed in 2016. According to the latest EN 748 2013 playing Field equipment-football goals-functional and safety requirements regulators. Our company is representing the many junior football clubs that are encouraged to buy heavy expensive free standing goal posts ,by other goalpost manufacturers, that we consider to be dangerous. We will not sell such items and put children at risk just to improve bottom line profit. We have fought to ensure these lighter products are included and users have the option to buy safer free standing goalposts. They will not be removed in this first standard but we hope in the future they will be withdrawn. Its up to customers and users to decide ,safer goals guaranteed not to cause serious injury or risk it with goalposts that can potentially kill a youngster if they topple onto them. The lighter safer products we actually in BS8462 in 2005 but were removed from BS 8462 in 2007 along with the children’s smaller goal net mesh. We hope eventually all heavy free standing goals will be outlawed and replaced by safer lightweight strong and less expensive products.( see our goalpost safety section.)
